University Campus Ministry

Mission Statement

Inspired by the writings of Cardinal John Henry Newman, the Newman Ministries encourage societies for Catholic students attending secular universities.

General Description

Newman Centers provide pastoral services and ministries to the Roman Catholic student population within universities. The first Newman Center was established in 1888 at Oxford University. Today, Newman Centers are found throughout the world at non-Catholic universities. The Office of Faith Formation coordinates the Newman Ministries for university and college students at three locations: University of California Irvine, California State University Fullerton and Chapman University.

We’re a very active and faithful community, located at the Interfaith Center, Bldg. 319 on the UCI Campus.

The Newman Catholic Club is a community of Catholic Christian young adults whose purpose is to foster a more mature spirituality, to promote community service, and to have fun! We are building a Catholic Christian community with other young adults through programs and relationships which promote openness and trust, honesty and cooperation; creating a climate where students can develop friendships and share their struggles, questions, and joys with one another living out the Good News of Jesus Christ in our daily lives. Our weekly meetings include a variety of guest speakers, Bible studies, faith sharing, and studies of the rich Tradition of the Catholic Faith. After our meetings, we enjoy going to dinner or spending time together.

Weekly Schedule of Events
