Artificial Intelligence (AI) Council

The Diocesan AI Council is a dedicated group composed of clergy, diocesan staff and other key stakeholders tasked with overseeing the responsible integration of artificial intelligence within the Diocese. This Council ensures that AI is used ethically, effectively and in alignment with Catholic teachings.

A Living Document: Managed by the AI Council

To keep pace with rapid advancements in AI and the evolving needs of our Diocese, the Council maintains a guidebook as a living document—one that is regularly reviewed and updated to remain current and practical. The Council meets quarterly to:

  • Review and evaluate the latest developments in AI technology and their implications for diocesan operations, ministry and education.
  • Address emerging ethical concerns or challenges associated with AI use.
  • Update the guidance as needed to align with new insights from practical experience or changes in Church guidance.

This proactive approach ensures our Diocese remains a leader in using AI responsibly and effectively, always guided by its commitment to our Catholic faith and teaching. The Council will also communicate updates and new guidelines to diocesan staff to ensure alignment and transparency across all levels of operation.
