Immigrant Families Assistance Fund
Join the Diocese of Orange in Supporting
Those Affected by the Immigration Crisis
The Bishops of the Diocese of Orange, joined the California Bishops in their December 12, 2024 statement responding to the “growing distress among you, our migrant brothers and sisters. We want to assure you that we, and our mother, the Church, stand with you in these days of anxiety. You are not alone.” They also recommitted to prayer, accompaniment, and solidarity in their June 10, 2025 statement and called for much needed immigration reform. They echo also the call of the President of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, Archbishop Timothy P. Broglio:
“As your shepherds, your fear echoes in our hearts and we make your pain our own. Count on the commitment of all of us to stand with you in this challenging hour.”
This is a challenging moment for our community. In the face of new immigration enforcement efforts, many in our community — our friends and family, our neighbors and fellow parishioners — are experiencing not only fear and anxiety, but economic uncertainty and hardship, as well.
To that end, at the request of Bishop Kevin Vann, the Diocese of Orange has established an Immigrant Families Assistance Fund to aid parishes and parish outreach ministries as they support brothers and sisters of our affected by the immigration crisis and provide them some security and stability in this difficult time.
You can contribute online via the secure button below or by check, payable to the Diocese of Orange and include “Immigrant Families Assistance Fund” on the check memo line. Checks can be delivered to your parish office or sent to:

Prayer to Patron Saints of Immigrants
Mary our Mother and St. Joseph the Worker
Good and gracious God, we thank you for the gift of families.
We are grateful for all of the joy and love that they bring into our lives, and we ask that you provide special protection for all families, particularly those who face hardships as they move in search of a better life.
Show mercy to those who travel in danger, and lead them to a place of safety and peace.
Comfort those who are alone and afraid because their families have been torn apart by violence and injustice.
As we reflect upon the difficult journey that the Holy Family faced as refugees in Egypt, help us to remember the suffering of all migrant families.
Through the intercession of Mary our Mother, and St. Joseph the Worker, her spouse, we pray that all migrants may be reunited with their loved ones and find the meaningful work they seek.
Open our hearts so that we may provide hospitality for all who come in search of refuge.
Give us the courage to welcome every stranger as Christ in our midst.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever. Amen.
St. Frances Xavier Cabrini
St. Frances Xavier Cabrini, in the name of Christ you ministered to those most in need: the orphan, the immigrant, the sick, the poor, the imprisoned. You saw Christ in them; and they met Christ in you. Pray for us, that we may have eyes and hearts to see and respond to the needs of our own time. Pray for us, that we may welcome the stranger as you did, with compassion and generosity. Amen.
St. John Baptist Scalibrini
O God, who in Blessed John Baptist Scalabrini, Bishop, you gave migrants a diligent shepherd, grant us, through his intercession, to promote the unity of the human family by proclaiming the Gospel of Salvation. Through our Lord Jesus Christ your Son, who is God, and lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, for ever and ever. Amen
St. Toribio Romo
Almighty and merciful God, who brought your Martyr blessed Toribio to overcome the torments of his passion, grant that we, who celebrate the day of his triumph, may remain invincible under your protection against the snares of the enemy. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.
St. Juan Diego
St. Juan Diego, our first saint from the Americas, pray for us.
We ask God the Father to pour forth the protecting love of his Spirit upon all migrants, taking special heed of those in need of support, who are isolated or separated from their native lands, whether by choice or necessity.
St. Juan Diego, intercede for those torn away from their families in pursuit of work that they may be reunited: husbands with wives and parents with children.
As the Virgin of Guadalupe promised you her compassionate prayers for the poor of Mexico, so now raise your merciful pleading for migrant women and children who are particularly vulnerable to the dangers of human trafficking. Seek for them protection from all evil.
May we, O Blessed Juan Diego, receive through your prayers, the grace to welcome with love to our country all migrants who seek a home in our parishes and communities.
And we ask that you join your prayers to those of Our Lady, who appeared to you as your Mother and as Mother of all in our land. May she wrap her mantle of protection around all migrant people.
We beg for her love, compassion, help, and protection on all immigrants who today experience great sufferings, sorrows, necessities, and misfortunes.
In the shared power of Christ and the union of the Holy Spirit, we say: Amen.
St. Josephine Bakhita
St. Josephine Bakhita, you were sold into slavery as a child
and endured untold hardship and suffering.
Once liberated from your physical enslavement,
you found true redemption in your encounter with Christ and his Church.
O St. Bakhita, assist all those who are trapped in a state of slavery;
Intercede with God on their behalf
so that they will be released from their chain of captivity.
Those whom man enslaves, let God set free.
Provide comfort to survivors of slavery
and let them look to you as an example of hope and faith.
Help all survivors find healing from their wounds.
We ask for your prayers and intercessions for those enslaved among us.
Amen.

Prayer for Migrants and Refugees
Lord Jesus, when you multiplied the loaves and fishes, you provided more than food for the body, you offered us the gift of yourself, the gift which satisfies every hunger and quenches every thirst! Your disciples were filled with fear and doubt, but you poured out your love and compassion on the migrant crowd, welcoming them as brothers and sisters.
Lord Jesus, today you call us to welcome the members of God’s family who come to our land to escape oppression, poverty, persecution, violence, and war. Like your disciples, we too are filled with fear and doubt and even suspicion. We build barriers in our hearts and in our minds.
Lord Jesus, help us by your grace,
To banish fear from our hearts, that we may embrace each of your children as our own brother and sister;
To welcome migrants and refugees with joy and generosity, while responding to their many needs;
To realize that you call all people to your holy mountain to learn the ways of peace and justice;
To share of our abundance as you spread a banquet before us;
To give witness to your love for all people, as we celebrate the many gifts they bring.
We praise you and give you thanks for the family you have called together from so many people. We see in this human family a reflection of the divine unity of the one Most Holy Trinity in whom we make our prayer: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen.
Pope Francis’ Prayer for Those Who Have Died After Leaving Their Homelands in Search of a Better Life
Merciful God, we pray to you for all the men, women and children
who have died after leaving their homelands in search of a better life.
Though many of their graves bear no name,
to you each one is known, loved and cherished.
May we never forget them, but honor their sacrifice
with deeds more than words.
We entrust to you all those who have made this journey,
enduring fear, uncertainty and humiliation,
in order to reach a place of safety and hope.
Just as you never abandoned your Son
as he was brought to a safe place by Mary and Joseph,
so now be close to these, your sons and daughters,
through our tenderness and protection.
In caring for them may we seek a world
where none are forced to leave their home
and where all can live in freedom, dignity and peace.
Merciful God and Father of all,
wake us from the slumber of indifference,
open our eyes to their suffering,
and free us from the insensitivity
born of worldly comfort and self-centeredness.
Inspire us, as nations, communities and individuals,
to see that those who come to our shores are our brothers and sisters.
May we share with them the blessings we have received from your hand,
and recognize that together, as one human family,
we are all migrants, journeying in hope to you, our true home,
where every tear will be wiped away,
where we will be at peace and safe in your embrace.
