California Catholic Conference Urges Governor Brown to Sign Climate Bill SB 350
A statement from the California Catholic Conference:
The California Catholic Conference is pleased with the passage of SB 350 and is asking Gov. Brown to sign this important measure of environmental stewardship.
A Vital Step for Our Planet and Our Communities
Despite the removal of a prior petroleum use reduction goal, we continue to support SB 350 because it would address the current challenge of global warming by significantly expanding the use of renewable energy and energy efficiency.
This bill would quantifiably help to lower greenhouse gas emissions and other pollutants which are vital to:
- Our planet’s health.
- The health of our communities, especially for our most vulnerable Californians.
‘Our Common Home’
Echoing Pope Francis’ recent message to the peoples of the world, we believe that the Earth is “Our Common Home.” Our ecological future depends upon us all. As such, we must be good stewards of the planet entrusted to our care.
