Tim Staples was a fallen-away Southern Baptist who as a teen came back to faith in Christ through the witness of televangelists. During his four-year tour with the U.S. Marine Corps, he became friends with a Marine well-versed in his Catholic Faith who challenged Tim to study Catholicism from Catholic and historical sources. That sparked a two-year search for the truth. Immediately after his tour of duty, Tim attended Jimmy Swaggart Bible College and became a youth minister in an Assembly of God community. He was determined to prove Catholicism wrong, but he studied his way to the last place he thought he would ever end up: the Catholic Church. He converted in 1988 and spent six years in formation for the priesthood, earning a degree in philosophy and studying theology at the graduate level. Realizing that his calling was not to be a priest, Tim left the seminary in 1994 and has been working in Catholic apologetics and evangelization ever since. Tim is currently a Senior Apologist for Catholic Answers were he can be heard regularly on their daily two hour radio show that is broadcast on stations around the world. Tim is a popular Catholic Speaker and the author of several books including, Behold Your Mother: A Biblical and Historical Defense of the Marian Doctrines, which is recognized as the “go to” apologetic resource for Catholics and non-Catholocis alike who are trying to understand, communicate and defend the Marian doctrines. Tim will be with us to deliver two talks where he will focus on our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, whose arrival we are preparing for during the Advent season. On Monday, December 11th Tim will be speaking on “Why the Truth About Jesus Matters” – where Tim will demonstrate that there is in fact only one Lord Jesus Christ and only he has the power to save souls. On Tuesday, December 12th Tim will return to speak on “The Living Bread” – defending the Real Presence of our Lord in the Eucharist using Scripture, Tradition and the Magisterium of the Church in a way that will make this dogma of the Catholic Faith come alive in your spiritual life.
