National Marriage Week is Feb. 7 to 14, which includes World Marriage Day on Sunday, Feb. 12 (the second Sunday in February each year). This annual observance is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the gift of marriage to our Church and to remind ourselves that we each have a role in the building of a culture of life and love that begins with supporting and promoting marriage and the family. This year’s theme is “Marriage … one flesh, given and received.” The theme highlights the one-flesh union of husband and wife that is willed by God and indicates the personal self-gift of each spouse, on to the other. Thus, the married couple is a sign of Christ, who gives Himself under the appearance of bread and wine as real flesh and blood. On this occasion, the WorldWide Marriage Encounter movement invites married couples to sign up for one of their upcoming local weekend experiences (see attached flyer).
