Welcome Catholic School Teachers!
Basic Certification consists of a Lumen Retreat (offered periodically throughout the year) or equivalent, completion of Basic Certification track (CI or STEP), and submission of a Basic Certification application form. EMMAUS institute has partnered with University of Notre Dame STEP program and Catechetical Institute of Franciscan University (CI) to provide two options for an online learning pathway. Each teacher is enrolled in the Emmaus Institute by their school administration. Please use your school email for all enrollments.
Using Franciscan University Catechetical Institute
The formation step of Basic Catechist Certification (Spanish and English) utilizing the CI platform requires completion of the 12 workshops in the Catholic Schools Teachers track. Set up your profile at: www.franciscanathome.com/register
Using University of Notre Dame STEP program
We have partnered with University of Notre Dame STEP program to provide this formation. Please choose the dates that work best for you. UND has a promo code for the Diocese of Orange. When registering, teachers will use the code and not be required to pay.

Credit: Upon completion of CI Basic Catechist Certification track or Catholic School Teachers track, completion of each track will be posted to the learner’s file on the Emmaus Student Portal (https://extrasite.rcbo.org/studentportal/). The Basic Certification application must also be submitted. Basic Certificates will be issued at the end of April, August and December.
