DISASTER RELIEF EFFORT UNDERWAY

The destruction caused by hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria, as well as the 8.1 magnitude earthquake in Mexico, have devastated the regions impacted. By all accounts it will take years for Texas, Florida, Puerto Rico and Mexico to recover. People are desperate for basic supplies including food and water.

After Hurricane Harvey Archbishop José Gomez, Vice President of the USCCB, asked all dioceses throughout the United States to take up a special collection to support the relief and rebuilding efforts needed. That has now expanded to include other regions in immediate need of aid.  Funds collected will be used to support the efforts of Catholic Charities USA as they reach out to provide humanitarian aid in the form of water, food, shelter, and medical care as well as support local dioceses in their care for those impacted by the hurricanes and earthquake.
