Men’s Presentation Against Human Trafficking

November 14, 2018 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Calling all men age 16 and older! The St. Irenaeus Bridge of Light: Human Trafficking to Human Triumph ministry invites men to a presentation on how to become leaders in the battle against human trafficking. This free event will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 14th in the St. Irenaeus Parish Hall, 5201 Evergreen Ave., Cypress. The Bridge of Light: Human Trafficking to Human Triumph Ministry is hosting this event in order to focus on six things to consider about human trafficking, six places where men can have an impact on eradicating this crime against our children and how we can help survivors. The presenter will be Deacon Joe Sullivan of St. Bonaventure.

The definition of human trafficking is when a someone “uses force, fraud or coercion to control another person for the purpose of engaging in commercial sex acts or soliciting labor or services against his/her will”. In other words, human trafficking occurs when someone buys, sells and abuses human beings to make money. This “modern-day slavery” is destroying lives and families worldwide, including here in Orange County.

Statistics are shocking. The National Center For Missing and Exploited Children states that at least 100,000 U.S. children are used yearly in prostitution in America. The average age a child enters into prostitution is 13 years of age.

Men can play a vital role in protecting our children and becoming part of the solution to this crisis. Invite your male relatives, friends and neighbors to attend. The National Human Trafficking Hotline number is 1-888-3737-888. If you have any questions, please contact Mario Bica at thechoop@pacbell.net.
