LIS Speaker Series 2017: Fr. Thomas Lucas, S.J.

Rev. Thomas Lucas, S.J., University Distinguished Professor and rector of the Jesuit Community at Seattle University, is an internationally recognized expert in Jesuit art history and a well-known liturgical designer and artist with an international portfolio.  Fr. Lucas received his doctorate in theology and the arts at the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, CA.  As a graduate student, he designed and directed the restoration of the 16th century rooms of St. Ignatius Loyola in Rome and curated an exhibit on Jesuit architecture at the Vatican Library. His book Landmarking: City, Church, and Jesuit Urban Strategy (Chicago: Loyola Press, 1997) won an AJCU National Book Award in 2000. Fr. Lucas’ work as a liturgical designer has also been recognized with an award from the American Institute of Architects.

$20 donation per person is requested for this special event; but all are welcome, regardless of donation amount.
