Catholic Bible Institute in the Diocese of Orange
August 26, 2017 @ 8:30 am - 4:00 pm
For many years, catechists and other pastoral ministers have asked for more biblical programs in the Diocese of Orange to continue their biblical training and to fulfill recertification requirements. In the Fall 2013, the Loyola Institute for Spirituality, in co-sponsorship with the Institute for Pastoral Ministry of the Diocese of Orange, established the Catholic Biblical Institute. It is a three-year certificate program that meets one Saturday each month from August through May to study scripture with biblical scholars and university professors.
The goal of CBI is to train more Catholics to be able to facilitate small-group Bible Study or Scripture Sharing groups within their parishes, schools, and religious communities. Since many of our parish volunteers and catechists are serving in this way, CBI is an excellent opportunity for your team to become more knowledgeable, prepared, and energized about fostering a friendship with God through Scripture.
Our first cohort graduated 29 lay people, 3 religious sisters, a deacon, and a diocesan priest in June 2016. After the successful conclusion of our second cohort’s first year on the New Testament, we would like to invite new participants to join us for Year 2’s Old Testament courses. Year 2 will begin with an introduction session on August 26, 2017 at the St. Joseph Center in Orange.

Please encourage catechists, lectors, RCIA team members, youth ministers, deacons, musicians, and other ministers in your parish (both clergy and laity) to participate in the Catholic Bible Institute. And don’t forget that this could fulfill recertification requirements!
