The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is an international Catholic lay organization. The Society was founded in 1833 by blessed Frederic Ozanam in Paris, France.
The Council of Orange County began as part of the Los Angeles Council before separating and incorporating.
The Council of Orange County provides services to the poor through its programs and conferences. The programs include sending low-income children to Summer Camp, holiday toy distribution, assisting children and families of the incarcerated, providing a safe haven to recently released ex-offenders, food distribution, rent utility assistance and household items to those experiencing an economic crisis. The conferences are based at various parishes in the diocese.
Vincentians gather in groups called “Conferences,” which are the basic unit of the Vincentian organization. Vincentians are volunteers who serve the less-fortunate in whatever capacity is necessary to help solve the problems they are facing and enable them to re-establish themselves as productive citizens.
