Camp Re-creation for adults and children with special needs

Charities of Orange County, in partner- ship with the Knights of Columbus, provides a camping program for individuals with intellectual disabilities. The camps offer a diversion from the ordinary and give families a respite from the intensive care they provide.

The program is run by adults and young adults who serve as volunteer counselors. Our counselors learn to care for someone who does not have the full capability to care for themselves and that translates to a very spiritual and personal growth experience for our volunteer counselors. Our dedicated volunteer counselors return year after year to donate their time, realizing that they have been truly blessed. Campers are provided with a variety of activities such as, but not limited to, spiritual enrichment, arts and crafts, drama class, journal class, swimming, various nightly activities, and concerts.
