DIOCESE OF ORANGE WELCOMES BISHOP KEVIN VANN DURING EVENING PRAYER
Garden Grove, CA (December 9, 2012) --- The Diocese of Orange welcomed Bishop-designate Kevin W. Vann during an Evening Prayer at the Arboretum on the campus of the future Christ Cathedral. As is traditional in the Catholic faith, a vigil of spirituality and inclusive liturgy precedes any significant event. Tomorrow, December 10th, will be the installation of Bishop Vann as the Fourth Bishop of Orange at the Bren Event Center on the campus of UC-Irvine.
Tonight, Interreligious leaders joined Catholic clergy and parishioners from around the diocese to pray together and seek the blessings of God in welcoming Bishop Vann to Orange County.
A native of Springfield, Ill., Vann is an expert in canon law and gifted organizer. Bishop Vann has distinguished himself during his seven year tenure as Bishop of Fort Worth and in prior assignments as priest, pastor and member of important Church committees and panels. He is recognized for innovative parish-based and diocesan initiatives.
Bishop Vann will shepherd the nation’s 10th largest diocese, which is one of the fastest growing Catholic populations in the country – the Diocese of Orange.
